On 7-9 October, Vectos raised awareness of the ESPRIT project at its exhibition stand at the CIVITAS Forum in Ljubljana. CIVITAS is the EU's leading network on clean urban transport and mobility and the annual conference draws more than 400 experts from across Europe. Through our new communications materials we approached dozens of cities, consultants, researchers and planners and received enthusiastic responses, notably about the on-demand nature of the proposed ESPRIT vehicle, its role in filling the gaps in the public transport network and the fact it is zero emissions. In this way, we validated many of the themes emerging from the Focus Groups held in the autumn in the ESPRIT demonstrations towns: Glasgow; Lyon and L'Hospitalet.

The theme of the conference was 'Sharing the City', with a keynote speech by Liftshare on carpooling. ESPRIT very much responds to this growing cultural shift in many urban areas towards shared and responsive transport services - highlighted by the rise of Uber - and so resonated with many of the delegates. Zero emission vehicles are of course a hot topic too with the EU's objective to halve the number of conventionally fuelled vehicles by 2030. We therefore feel we are on the right track both in terms of user-demand and the broader policy framework.
