And, it designs and manufactures custom lithium battery packs, and monitors their operation throughout their life cycle.

Since 2012, the company has been involved in a number of research projects and has developed strong expertise in the management of projects included in European funding programme. At present, Flash Battery is actively participating in two funded H2020 projects and has been chosen to provide innovative battery pack solutions for two prototypes of light electric vehicles.

Flash Battery is also investing in predictive maintenance of their product offering:

1. Flash Data Center is a system that automatically reports possible malfunctions, which enables us to prevent critical situations before they occur. The data it stores and be accessed over the Web by our technical assistance department and by the producer of the machine itself.

2. Automatic Alert System: is a system that automatically reports possible malfunctions, which enables us to prevent critical situations before they occur.

Role in the project

Flash Battery (Kaitek) will be involved in work package 4 “Road train Energy Storage Management System (RESMS)”. It will contribute to the choice of the technology of the cells, considering the specific use cases and requirements of the project. It will also lead the development of the whole battery pack. In particular, a specific battery management and balancing system will be developed, based on the expertise of Flash Battery on lithium batteries, but with special features needed to cooperate with the RESM system. Safety and protection devices will be included and
optimised for the specific battery back, that will result in a highly engineered module. Flash Battery will use its resources and third parties network also to produce the prototypes needed for the development and the concept demonstration.
